Photons and dileptons are exceptionally clean probes of hot and dense systems. Kinematic properties are distinct since photon spectra provide reliable temperature probes and dileptons open the possibility of doing spectroscopy to assess collective nuclear effects. We report on a study of diphotons to do both! That is, we calculate diphoton production from hot hadronic matter which allows spectroscopy as well as thermometry all within the same signal, and therefore consistently. Theoretical estimates will be discussed and framed with high energy heavy ion experiments in mind.
