HQ2006 - Overview
Goals
The aim of the workshop is to enhance the direct exchange of scientific information amongst the younger members of the community from both experiments and theory. It promotes and facilitates informal interactions among young scientists in the field. The workshop will consist of short presentations, each followed by a relatively long Q&A session. Results and future perspectives from heavy ion programs at BNL, CERN, and GSI will be discussed. Topics that will be addressed include:
- Collective phenomena
- Correlations and fluctuations
- Strangeness production
- Photons and dileptons
- Intermediate and high pT phenomena
- Heavy flavor production
- Experimental apparatus
Workshop Venue
The workshop will took place on May 15-20, 2006 in Villasimius, Sardinia, Italy. Villasimius is in the south-east corner of this Mediterranean island not far from Cagliari, Sardinia's capital and main airport.
Format
The morning and afternoon sessions consisted of short (~15-20 min) presentations, each followed by a relatively long Q&A session. At the end of each session we had a long discussion section (~1h). Ample free time between lunch and the late afternoon session and after dinner enhanced informal interactions.
Participation
The number of participants was 67 (+8 organizer) this year. Every participant gave an oral presentation.
Deadlines
- Proceedings are due August 1, 2006.
Proceeding
Proceedings of the conference will be published in The European Physical Journal C in a regular (although dedicated) issue, i.e., as peer reviewed articles. Each participant will obtain one issue. All articles will be available on the web through the journal web pages.
Award
As for Hot Quarks 2004, a symbolic award for the best presentation at the workshop was instituted. The award is dedicated to the memory of the late Klaus Kinder-Geiger. Winner of HQ2006 is Andre Peshier.
